After the success last year of our world first Hurley Surf Club post session video analysis and coaching sessions for all divisions and all kids for the first two rounds of the event, we are proud to announce we will do it all again in 2018.
The inclusion to the event took last year’s Blast Off to a whole nother level with groms, who have never been coached, gaining access to top-level guidance and skill breakdown after their heats. It’s just another way that Barton hopes to improve the experience and increase the fun and longevity of all the participants.
“Surfing is not just about elite competition”, said BL. “Blast Off has always been proud to help develop our young surfers and not push the heavy elite pathway, because at the end of the day, these kids aren’t going to be the best in the world, or even keep surfing through to adulthood if they’re not having fun. Providing this coaching aspect gives the kids the tools they will need to take their surfing to the next level whether they want to compete or just surf more waves with their family and friends.”
“Our goal is to share four days with these young kids and create purposeful improvement in their surfing and help them to grow as people, not to mention have a blast.”
A massive thank you to the team at Hurley and the Hurley Surf Club for providing this amazing service for the kids again this year.
“I am proud to announce that our coaches for this role will again be two of the best coaches I know, in Beau Mitchell and Tim Macdonald.” Said Barton Lynch.
“The guys will be responsible for all the post-session coaching and video analysis, and this years coaching/ judging panel. Honestly, it is the best we have ever had with six professional coaches including Gerard McCallum, Gary Cruikshank, Amee Donohoe, Dustin Atkinson, Peter Hayes and Darcy Crump doing the assessments.
*Hurley Surf Club post-session coaching and video analysis is available to every participant of the 2018 Hurley BL’s Blast Off presented by Beecraft. Beach announcers will let you know when to head up to the van for your heat’s analysis.
